Christmas is in 6 Months!

Wow, where did the time go? It seems like I was just making my New Year's resolution to lose weight yesterday. I have lost a few pounds, but not nearly as much as I could have. I can't believe how much time I wasted. Well at least it makes my will power even stronger! I must move forward and not look back feeling sorry for myself!

The good news is I packed my lunch today so I have kept up with my goals for this week. :) I hope I will get around to SparkPeople next week! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Funny Forward

Hi there! I don't have time to write a blog today, but I wanted to share a funny forward I received today.

HEALTH QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is thistrue?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it.. don'twaste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually Speeding up yourheart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend thelife of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hayand corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than anefficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eatchicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance ofvegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilledwine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get evenmore of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one toone. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regularexercise program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: NoPain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!... Foods are fried these days invegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting morevegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. Youshould only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's thebest feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have hadabout food and diets. And remember: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention ofarriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skidin sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - bodythoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride!"

High Maintenance Friends

Hi there! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I took a day off yesterday since I have a lot of vacation to burn. So I have a question for everyone. Do you have any high maintenance friends? I have had a few in my lifetime and I find that I don't have the patience or energy to put up with them anymore. I consider myself a pretty good friend, but when your friends start to drain all the positive energy out of you something has to be wrong, right? As an example, I had a friend that would call me only when she had problems, and would always ask for my advice. She had such a low esteem of herself and I kept trying to tell her that she's not ugly, not fat (she's pretty skinny), not stupid, etc. After a while, I honestly had no energy for her. I know it sounds mean, but that's the truth. I felt like she was changing me...like her negative energy was rubbing off on me. Am I the only one that has ever felt this way? Finally, I had the guts to tell her how I felt. She accepted it and we haven't talked for about 9 months. One day out of the blue, she calls me up and says that she's a different person and she no longer has all the drama in her life anymore and she would like to hang out again. I thought about it and I wouldn't mind it. I mean when she wasn't in one of her moods, she really was a fun person to be around.

While we're on the subject of friends, I have another question. Do you think that friends should always forgive each other? I had a friend that really screwed me when I was in a time in my life when I didn't have a lot of money. Not like I have a lot of money now, but he really did it at a bad time. Really, it's not about the money, but I was hurt that my friend could do something to me and not understand why I was upset. He recently contacted me too. Should I just forgive him and start over, or should I just forget about the friendship?

What are your thoughts? I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way as me or if I'm just being really mean. It's ok to be honest, I won't be offended! Thank you!

Proud

I am so proud of myself! I managed to make my lunch everyday this week! My goal for this month is to pack my lunch for work everyday. It saves me money and it saves me calories! I made a simple sandwich using low carb bread and instead of potato chips, I brought veggies. I'm feeling better about everything! I know I still have 3 more weeks in this month, but I think I'm off to a great start!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Question About Blogging

I have a question about blogging. How come when I publish my post it doesn't show up right away? Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't. Am I the only one with this problem? Thanks!

Alcohol?

Hello! I'm just curious if anyone out there still drinks alcohol. I occasionally will go out with some co-workers or friends after work. If so, what do you all recommend for drinks? Rum and Diet Coke? My friend doesn't eat when she drinks. She said that the calories from the drink are more than she's supposed to have so she chooses not to eat. It's not that simple for me. I need to eat! Any comments are greatly appreciated!

A New Start

I can't wait to see where this new start will take me! I've just joined a new weight loss blog and hope it will help to keep me focused on the results! I know I've been mia this weekend, but it was oh so crazy! I'm going to try and keep this updated daily, but we'll see. I only have online access at work and sometimes at friend's houses, but I will try my best to keep it up! So, I'm not off to a good start this month, but I will try my best for the rest of the month.

Here are my problems:

I can't imagine wasting all the food that I have in my fridge! Plus, it's so expensive to eat healthy. So then I start wondering, am I just making up excuses to postpone my diet? Does anyone else have these issues?

Sure, I have a gym membership, but ask me how many times I actually go? I think I started up in the beginning of the year with so many expectations for myself. Ya right, that didn't happen. I was doing really well in the beginning, but then I stopped going and never went back. Part of the reason is I feel like they're all going to look at me like another one of those people that sign up and never go. Another reason is I don't want to go and see how much I gained since I last went. I keep telling myself that I'm going to lose the weight I gained first and then go back. What should I do?

I love to eat out and I love all kinds of unhealthy food. How do I get past this craving for the worst kinds of foods. I need a magic pill!

So here are a few of my problems. I have a long road ahead of me, but I will make it!

A Little About Me

A little info about me. As i mentioned before, I'm new to this blogging stuff. I surf the web often, but have never explored this part of it. Anyway, the reason I created this blog is because I stumbled on a weight loss blog and noticed that a lot of the people there had blogs. I didn't know what it was about so I clicked on a few and found that they use it to help keep themselves on track with their weight loss. This sparked my interest! I've been overweight my entire life and am sick of it. I am an asian woman that feels uncomfortable in her body because all of her asian friends and family are very skinny as well as many people in the asian community. Even though I'm happily dating someone, I still do not feel happy with myself. I think how can he love me if I don't love myself first. Well, here's my first step to a new me. I'm going to attempt to keep this up and hope that it will help me along with my weight loss journey. Plus, it's like going to a support group without having anyone looking at me.

Newbie Here

Hi everyone! I'm new to the world of blogging. Please be patient with me as I learn how this all works.
